It’s my birthday, yo.
Breakfast at Honey’s (best chocolate chip pancakes, people! best!) has already been had. The plan for the remainder of the day is lounging and reading while D gets his work done, and then putting on my fancy new cat print dress and going out for fancy pizza and fancy dessert! (Photos to follow, obvs.) I prefer simple birthdays to all out craziness.
And if that photo is indicative of anything, it’s that I’ve been TOTALLY RIDICULOUS since the old days. And by old, I mean the late 70s.
What’s up, 33? Bring it.
Basically, we consume a lot of tomato-based products, our house is drafty, our cats act like sulky teens (mostly just Brother), leftover Halloween candy is my best friend, and Bloody Maria’s at home aren’t quite as tasty when you forget them on the coffee table for over an hour. Also, I discovered the pleasure of listening to NPR’s live concert streams in my headphones while cooking and the comfort of jean leggings (“jeggings” makes me cringe, guys!).
Final thought: weekends aren’t long enough.
It is truly exhausting to be around people all day. There are some days when I don’t know how I do it. Today wasn’t one of those days but for some reason, as soon as I walked in the front door, I started searching around in my head for the OFF switch.
I need quiet alone time to recharge and right now that time is being interrupted by the neighbor’s irritating voice and the cats who won’t stop romping around the house, chirping and mewing like goddamn freaks.
Everything that’s moving and talking and rustling about, please stop!
And all I really want is the two cheeseburger meal from McDonald’s. (This is me, sighing.)
Today’s goals include:
This list makes me look like the most boring person on earth. Really? Ugh. Why does seeing something like this—WORDS WRITTEN ON MY SCREEN THAT TELL ME WHAT TO DO—make me feel more inclined to actually, um, do something?
So many things over on Etsy are catching my eye. It’s kind of a good thing I don’t have a regular full-time job right now. (Side note: working as a temp is a great way to practice financial self-control. You never know when you might be out of an assignment for a few weeks!) And since I’m pretty good at money-managing and prioritizing, I can’t let myself spend electric bill money on animal figurines or another tote bag. Because, you know, having electricity (without which, I WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO TEMPT MYSELF BY BROWSING ON ETSY) is awesome. Right?!
Gah! I’ll shut up now. Look at these things!

(via Brown Bag Vintage)
(via Edor – I love all the necklaces in this shop!)
(via fifthquadrant – lots of fun stuff at this shop!)
I especially love the little panda because he looks like he’s just kickin’ it, like super duper chilling the eff out. I think he needs a beer.

A family of squirrels! Can’t take the cuteness!
(via The Petite Chouette – animal sleeve t-shirt? Yes, please.)
(via Moop – And I’m still loving Moop’s Market Bag.)
I should really stop browsing now and do some laundry. Instant buzz kill. Bleh.
What are the chances the rain will bring the temperature down from over 90 degrees to something a bit more bearable?
Ha-ha-hardy-har-har, that’s what I say. We’ll see. Anyway, ever since watching all four seasons of Friday Night Lights in a less-than-two week period I’ve been on a new (to me) music discovery kick. And I can’t get this song out of my head:
All This Time – Heartless Bastards
Also ALWAYS awesome (not related to FNL, by the way) are the songs of yesteryear. 90s R&B videos are the best and so is this song:
What are you guys listening to these days?
